”Vampire4x4Tours” is an annual event which takes place in the beautiful landscapes of Transylvania. It is open to everyone whether it be first time families with children to seasoned individual travellers. Tours have been running for 7 years, so a wealth of experience is ever-present.
The whole route is about 3,500 miles. During this time you will visit eight countries, pass through mountain ranges at altitudes of more than 2,000 metres, drive in the tyre tracks of previous famous European tours (i.e. Top Gear’s Transalpina drive of the Transfogerach Road), stand on the edge of one of the largest water dams in Europe, and visit the castles of Vlad the Impaler and Dracula (Bran).
Within 8 days you will have the opportunity to embrace another culture, complete with its amazing forested mountainous landscapes, basically the best that the European Union has to offer. There is also time for play, for within each route there are off-road sections. Overnight stops will be a interesting mix of designated campsites, wild camping in the mountains and boarding houses & hotels in villages/towns, so in the most part hot water and showers await. Wherever we find ourselves, rest assured that everything will be organised in advance. This includes evening ‘get-togethers’ which could well involve BBQs and vodka Palinka!
In recent years the event was organised under the name of Transylvania4x4Trips and Vampire4x4Tours, but to avoid confusion they will in future be always known as ”Vampire4x4Tours”. Why? The reason is simple. Along with the name, the nature and characteristics of the event have also changed. No longer will it be solely ‘extreme rally’ as in the past. Vampire4x4Tours are now trips for anyone, without the fear of destroying their car; challenging but not damaging you could say. There is still scope however for those with more modified vehicles to have fun, as you will now have the choice en route – either Family ‘Non-Damaging’ or Extreme, your call.
